Nothing can be as rewarding as shooting the Milky Way as it arches across the night skies. I can normally be found during the Milky Way viewing season in Okinawa between the Months of March and November, looking for new locations, teaching workshops or shooting unique family or private shoots under the spread of these magical stars. The shooting is just one side of the coin though. Given this is very much an extreme photographic technique in its very acquisition means that it also needs a specific approach to the editing. This video addresses just that, the way I tend to edit my Milky Way imagery.
Now it has to be said that many people shoot in many ways. That stands true to the editing process also. The way I shoot and edit may differ slightly or even greater to extents in comparison than to other photographers. The main thing is at the end of the day I create imagery that drives me to continue in my path through photography. The fact that it also attracts and appeals to others suggests that I may also be doing something correct in the grand scale of things.
Now I’m no great shakes when it comes to being an editor of note with either Photoshop nor Lightroom but the following steps are the ones I generally approach my Milky Way editing with. If they help you to accomplish results that please or simply introduce you to just some of the awesome power of Lightroom then that is awesome.
