This poor robin chick had a large vomit in the nest. It seemed to not be feeling well and then suddenly started throwing up. I have never seen a chick throw up or vomit like this before. No parent was at the nest when it happened either. I'm not really sure what happened as it looked like the throw up was in the process of being digested. A possibility is the chick was fed something poisonous and its body's response was to throw up to get rid of it. This looked like a nasty throw up as it was pretty drawn out. Hopefully the chick wasn't in too much pain. These chicks have defiantly had some tough times in the nest such as when a chick was stung by a wasp days earlier.

A barking dog near the Cardinals nest confused one of the chicks! Chicks hatch blind and rely on sound and movement to know when its feeding time. The chick heard the dog barking and raised its head expecting food since the parents will chirp during food time. The chick raised its head a few times and probably was disappointed not to get any food!

These three sparrow chicks are growing rapidly. Just a week after hatching they have quadrupled in size and are very alert. This evening footage shows the parents constantly feeding the chicks before nightfall. They need to make sure the chicks are well fed for the night. The mother is still brooding them at night.
