A barking dog near the Cardinals nest confused one of the chicks! Chicks hatch blind and rely on sound and movement to know when it's feeding time. The chick heard the dog barking and raised its head expecting food since the parents will chirp during food time. The chick raised its head a few times and probably was disappointed not to get any food!

These three sparrow chicks are growing rapidly. Just a week after hatching they have quadrupled in size and are very alert. This evening footage shows the parents constantly feeding the chicks before nightfall. They need to make sure the chicks are well fed for the night. The mother is still brooding them at night.

I zoomed in the camera for some cool close up shots of the sparrow family! You can really see the detail of the baby bird chicks bodies. Its fun to watch the chicks be fed so close. The sparrow chicks are 7 days and growing quickly! Their eyes are finally fully open. It must be a neat feeling for them after being completely blind for their first 4-5 days.
