Avowed draws inspiration from a lot of games - Baldur's Gate 3, The Outer Worlds, but most obviously Skyrim. It's a fantasy game with similar combat and an open world; but this new title from Obsidian doesn't quite live up to the heights of that 2011 classic. Exploring a fantasy world and building a combat ready character however you see fit remain strong pulls that make Avowed worth playing, but the storytelling, world building, and characters left me wanting for more.
