Sephiro—I mean Sephiran, is probably the strongest mage-type unit in this series because of a few big changes to how the fights go down. First of all, because initiation is based on Lck, and the fact that he has well above average Lck, he initiates first very often. There are some units in the series that would rather not initiate first because it leads to a lot of attacks against them (someone like Ashera comes to mind with her low Spd), but Sephiran doesn't mind that much. Since he has access to the siege tomes and has a good Mag stat, he will often just start with attacking with the siege tome first and let the opposition come to him since he doesn't have to worry about mastery skills or crits at all. What's more is that because siege tomes are able to proc mastery skills in this series, sometimes he won't even need to take the attacks on the next turn. And because of great Lck that he has a solid Spd, he's actually quite evasive. So now the brave weapons that gave him fits in ASU are now less likely to cause him grief because of how inaccurate they are in this series (-15 Hit). And yet another thing that he has in this series that benefits him is the new and improved Balberith tome. It usually just gives a useless +3 Str in vanilla RD, but because I reworked the weapons to make some of them more useable, Balberith now gives +3 Res (and +2 Spd if the unit can get to SS, which Sephiran can). The +2 Spd might not sound like much, but there are actually quite a few fights that he can use it effectively to either stop the unit from doubling him or get himself enough Spd to double instead. And speaking of SS weapons, because he can get to SS in Light, Rexaura now gives him +5 Def (up from +3) when equipped, which, along with the Rudol Gem boost, makes him one of the more bulky mage units as well.
