More glitches in Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag!
Points of interest:
1. You can make Edward climb onto The Jackdaw’s Mast’s netting backwards. This is done by starting to climb around to the opposite side of the netting, but suddenly making Edward stay on the same side.However, the state ends if you try to move.
2. I used the “Sail through land glitch” to put the Captain’s Cabin near a Fast Travel (boat) Prompt. I then activated the Fast travel prompt just before activating the Captain’s Cabin prompt, which causes the Fast travel prompt to be active inside the Cabin.
Pressing “Accept” just works as normal, so I upgraded The Jackdaw. This just causes a delayed upgrade-scene, and then a Softlock.
3. Captain’s Cabin break-out at “Do not go gently…”
This breaks you out of the scene and shows the Cabin floating in nothingness. You can activate the prompts during this time, but you can’t really seem to affect the game further. After a short while the game proceeds as normal.
4. Missing Ocean glitch version 2. Another way to make the Ocean vanish is to switch gear (with the Buffered Shop) just as Edward gets knocked back when The Jackdaw is attacked. Some sightseeing with no ocean follows:
(a) A rogue wave.
(b) Harpooning a shark.
(c) Observing a whale frozen in place.
5. The rest of the vid is of upgrading and switching gear during certain actions, with the Buffered shops:
(a) Air assassination + Gear switch = You break-out of the assassination, and the game keeps the “Air Assassination graphical effect” permanently. It remains even through cutscenes and Synchronization scenes (not in vid). Eagle Vision stops the effect temporarily, until you exit Eagle Vision.
(b) Diving + gear switch = Animation break-out, then you’re teleported back up to the spot where you entered the menu. Then you fall normally.
(c) Jackdaw rope swing + Jackdaw upgrade (non-boarding) = Game crash.
(d) Starting to Fast sail + Jackdaw upgrade = The Jackdaw vanishes for a while then returns, you get the faraway camera even though the sails are down, and you are no longer fast sailing.
Using the scope in this state causes the Scope to focus directly to where the Jackdaw is, but it vanishes while you use the scope. You can zoom in and out and inspect the map from a new perspective.
(e) Upgrading (Harpoon? or Switch gear?, forgot) + Harpoon throw = There is some sort of break-out that causes the shark AI to temporarily become messed up.
(f) Tavern scene + gear switch = Edward breaks-out of the scene, and the cup floats around on its own.
(g) Mast lift-up + Jackdaw upgrade = Edward gets stuck in his lift-up animation. Aiming ends this state.
(h) Mast lift-up + Switch Gear = It almost looks like Edward teleports out of the map before returning to the deck (not sure if this effect is the same if done at other locations)
(i)Falling from deadly height + Gear Switch = You don’t desync/die, and you get no fall damage.
(j) Desync/die + gear switch = The desync effect vanishes, and even though it looks like everything returns to normal afterwards. The game really does desync.
