Ashtanga Yoga is far more than just āsana. There is an often overlooked inner dimension to this tradition, one that begins with the simple yet profound act of deep breathing. Chanting, meditation, and other subtle practices light the path toward exploring the core principles of the spiritual journey.
Whatever depth we touch within āsana truly takes root as a life lesson only when we carry it off the mat and into our daily lives. It is the integration of all eight limbs of Ashtanga Yoga that transforms this into a lifelong, evolving practice. Expanding our understanding of practice beyond impressive postures is what gives meaning and longevity to every moment we spend on the mat.
My teacher often reminded us that this path is not easy, that we would need to practice diligently, for a lifetime, before we could truly grasp its gifts. I never felt he was speaking only of the physical forms. To me, he was pointing toward the deeper, more elusive spiritual lessons waiting to be uncovered through patient, devoted practice.
This video was filmed in beautiful Bali. We’re returning to @radiantlyalive.ubud for an immersive 2-week, 50-hour Ashtanga Yoga training, and early bird pricing is available now.
Each morning begins with Mysore-style or guided practice. Afternoons are devoted to exploring movement principles, technique, and alignment.
Week One focuses on foundational elements- asana, anatomy, and alignment.
Week Two dives into the more subtle aspects of practice-breathwork, meditation, and the deeper teachings of yoga.
