In celebration of recent acquisitions of works by Tianjin Ren, curator Seung Hee Oh sits down with the artist to discuss how he reimagines traditional calligraphy as a cross-cultural and open-form practice where Eastern and Western ideas collide, communicate, and coexist.
Ren’s distinctive and unique artistic style is rooted in Asian culture, but it does not conform to that tradition.
