Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes says the state’s share of Meta’s multistate settlement will total at least $223 million. The settlement follows allegations that Facebook and Instagram knowingly designed addictive platforms that harmed children’s mental health. Meta has agreed to new protections, including two-hour daily limits for children, overnight and school-hour restrictions, stronger age verification and expanded content controls. The company also plans to remove visible like counts, which have been linked to poor mental health outcomes for teens. Mayes says she wants a significant share of Arizona’s money directed to mental health counseling in public schools.
