Friendly Review of the 2016 MacBook Pro (amzn.to/2umi9Or). This is the new model that was released in 2016, but is similar to the Apple MacBook Pro 2017 as well. A new MacBook Pro was just released in 2018, but it is unclear if any of these issues have been fixed. I have been using the 15" MacBook Pro (MBP 15) for 1-1/2 years now or 18 months. I really like the computer, but it has some issues that I explain in this video.
1.) The 15 MacBook Pro comes with 4 USB-C ports and 1 headphone jack. The USB-C ports are new and I was curious how well they would hold up. I use the rear right connector for my power, and over time it has gotten looser and looser. I would really like the magsafe connection back since it held it in place perfectly. It is now loose enough that it occasionally comes unplugged if I move around my laptop with little tension on the cable. The lesser used USB C ports do not have the same issues, and still have a scrip snap firmly holding the cables and dongles in place. I really wish they would have added an SD or micro SD card reader on MacBook Pro.
2.) I started thinking I was making typing errors on the keyboard, but it turned out that portions of the keys were just not triggering the key to type. The biggest issue I currently have is with the corners of the space bar. Apple has just released its new 2018 MacBook Pro and it has a thin membrane underneath the keys to try to keep dust out of the butterfly mechanism. Only time will tell if this actually fixed the issue. (It was supported to make them quieter as well)
3.) This is my biggest issues with the laptop so far, and I don't think it's fixed. When there is thermal expansion going on in the laptop, something breaks free and POP! It is a very loud pop that is very annoying. I haven't heard of any reports of this getting fixed.
