Anne Murray was the very first guest on the IRISH ROVERS 1971 debut series and this was a repeat of that show. Taped at the CBC Vancouver TV studios, the Rovers sing The Irish Rover and My Old Man's a Dustman before introducing Anne who sings Stranger in my Place (written by Kenny Rogers) followed by Put Your Hand in the Hand. Anne was the first Canadian female singer to reach #1 on the US charts with Snowbird (1970) and the first woman and Canadian to win Album of the Year at the 1984 Country Music Association Awards. The Irish Rovers group was created in 1963 and named after the traditional song The Irish Rovers. The Ulster-born Irish-Canadian group debuted on CBC TV on April 5, 1971.
