Brits Phil Collins and Howard Jones talk with GOOD ROCKIN' TONITE's host Terry David Mulligan in 1985 with comments from Nik Kershaw and Canada's (Larry) Gowan. London-born Collins as a young child played the Artful Dodger in the London production of Oliver Twist. He joined the group Genesis as a drummer in 1970, becoming their lead singer five years later. By the end of the interview he had had major hits with In the Air Tonight, You Can't Hurry Love, and #1 hits with Against All Odds, Easy Lover, One More Night, Sussaudio, and Separate Lives. He was interviewed regularly on GRT. As you'll hear in the interview, Jones spent time as a boy with his family in Canada where he joined his first band, progressive rockers Warrior. Returning to England, in 1983 he had hits in both the UK and North America, and his LP Human Lib was a UK #1. He was one of the defining figures of the mid-60s synthpop New Wave. Music videos have been deleted. Gowan had major hits in Canada with A Criminal Mind (1985) and Moonlight Desires (1987), and co-hosted GRT. In the 80's, Brit Nik Kershaw's biggest hits were Wouldn't It Be Good and I Wont Let the Sun Go Down On Me. Elton John described him as "the best songwriter of a generation."
