Putnam is hoping a new Amtrak study could help bring passenger rail service back to eastern Connecticut more than 50 years after the town lost it. Putnam Economic Development Director Mary Ann Chinatti says community survey responses show interest in restoring passenger rail, which she says could improve commuting and bring more jobs, business and tourism to the area. Amtrak's New Haven to Providence Capacity Planning Study is expected to include 24 months of engagement and analysis.
