New Haven police are searching for a killer after IChon Ringwood was fatally shot Thursday morning at the Berger Apartment Complex on Derby Avenue. Police believe the shooting stemmed from an argument between groups outside the building, while Mayor Justin Elicker said Ringwood was not believed to be the intended target.

Ringwood’s partner, Keziah Jones, described hearing the gunfire and seeing first responders working to save him. His family says he was deeply loved and will be missed. Police are asking witnesses or anyone with information to come forward as the investigation continues.
