Summer is here and the temperature is climbing. This time of year there's nothing better than a highball. The easy drinking combination of a spirit and (ideally) a bubbly mixer is perfect for pool parties, picnics and all other properly socially distanced activities. In fact, I am hereby declaring this to be #HighballSummer.

In the first installment of this series, we're making the Amber Road by Food & Wine magazine. We'll be celebrating the highball all summer long, so I hope you'll check back for more fun summer recipes!

AMBER ROAD
1 1/2oz Bourbon or Rye whiskey
1oz Aperol
1/2oz lemon juice
1/4oz maple syrup
Top with sparkling water
