This is the first 1hr 36min silent Let's Play of the stellar VR anime game ALTDEUS: Beyond Chronos by MyDearest. It is a slower paced sci-fi with a strong focus on a small cast of characters in a post-apocalyptic world. Forced to live underground, and thwart off attacks from giant unknown entities in Evangelion-esque warfare, the story focuses on the protagonist's past, and those wishing for her present happiness. Things are never simple however, as their sanctuary may depend on her decisions for their mutual survival! What future lies ahead...?

Personally, I've been wanting a full length (20+ hr) non-gimmicky story for VR. And to my inner-anime fanboy's glee, this game had some big budget level polish: with instantly recognizable Japanese voice actors, i.e. Ferdinand from Ascendance of a Bookworm (There is an english option too!); also a lovely 41+ track OST that made great use of various instrument layers and loops to really hit a homerun with sound design. It does seem lacking in the amount of 3D areas and the gameplay elements, but the story really captured my imagination, and the focus on characters makes great use of the limited areas you will visit. It's a pretty wonderful cast I must say.

You may miss out on the sense of presence that VR provides (giant mecha, characters with varying sizes); but watching in 2D stands on its own feet; proving the game isn't based around a gimmick.

I also refrain from commentary during the game as that imo, breaks immersion with the voice acting; and is better suited with an action game. Instead I hope my head and hand tracking "acting" will fill the human void and add to the video (and hopefully won't cause motion sickness!). It is a first-person movie after all!
