A 2024, Let's Play Quake on Hard using Xonotic/DarkPlaces engine, with a mod compilation starring a source edited 1.5 mod as described below with edits from myself refined over the course of a month! Playlist for quick map selection. Episode 1 currently up. The rest will follow in the coming weeks.
What makes this worth an upload? Since many have uploaded Quake and even 1.5 before? I would say because I have customized Quake to feature:
Mixed and matched high quality enemy models that are very similar to the vanilla models, as opposed to 1.5's specific look. Returned the weapons to the vanilla models, while keeping the added effects. Mixed and matched and edited rtlights, ent, lit and bsp files depending on my favorite that I ran across; also altered or added weather effects in many maps, and fog. This includes fixing some of the problems I ran across causing the bright light effect on maps without rtlights or missing or bad cubemap files while realtime shadows, etc are on. A lot of qc sources edits were required to get some of the other models to work well enough when switching off 1.5's specific monster models. And switching back to the vanilla weapons required removing new model files, and lots of testing. I like the spinup time on the super nail gun and it works with the vanilla mostly! Oh and I'm proud to have edited the episode 3 boss! After watching players spin around the poor thing and toast it, it now is an overly dangerous boss which you may or may not win against ;D I also switched monster random variation to mostly vanilla except for new behaviors. I actually really like Combat+'s changes, but at this time source was not available for it... So I went with Q1.5's! There are a lot of changes and a lot of sources for the combined files. I did not keep a list, but after everything is uploaded, I will see about making a proper sources list. For example I used the latest SMC files and picked and chose which effectinfo effects to use in some instances. I also believe I fixed some issues I noticed, but ignored some other bugs like the sliding bodies... lol
map e1m2. Q1.5's bsp. With its few changes. One being the exploding wall, instead of lowering. Surprised me the first time! Other than that, I noticed extra skull decorations on the first inner hall with the circular stained glass above. I believe I replaced the rtlights with a different one for this map.
A few places to find various rtlights I used:
github.com/Demonvein-Romi/rtlights4quake
github.com/hemebond/quake-rtlights
quakeone.com/forum/quake-mod-releases/finished-works/6617-inkub0-new-rtlights
quakeone.com/forum/quake-mod-releases/finished-works/8796-new-id1-relight-rtlights-lightmaps
github.com/vittorioromeo/quakevr
Also I might have looked at Quake HD, or Rygel's ?
As for vis and lit files, I used any of the included q1.5 files, but perhaps in other instances depending if there was a better lit file out there, I did compile my own lit and vis files with various advanced settings for higher resolution shadows, etc. Not sure if any of them were used in this version though.
I do know I used various monsters models like:
capnbubs...grunt dog maybe more?
maybe the enforcer from
OSJC_enhanced_models_mdl (ported from remastered?)
Going to have to dig to find them again
On rendering... I ran into issues when originally posting the full recording all at once, due to some issue with it coming out unwatchably dark on youtube. Ended up figuring it out eventually, but decided to upscale from 1920x1200 to 3840x2400 with Topaz Video AI's Rhea with added detail at 100. Also had to load it in davinci resolve to change the color gamma to 2.4, and advanced output to gamma 2.4 + rec. 709, plus autogain with 0.15 transparency. That seemed to help it come out. Overall on average it took 8 hours per short map to upscale and reencode and upload 8 - 12 GB files! Ouch! Still I hope the quality helped appreciate the differences between other videos, regular 1.5 and this custom 1.5 combo.

![Baldurs Gate II (Ghaleon sorcerer mod) [unfinished]
These are screenshots taken back in the early 2000s of a mod I was working on... I lost most of it when my PC broke, but I always wanted to use what I had left to complete a mod for BGII...
The mod in the shots, was basically a super player character; with each letter on the keyboard being a different epic level spell. And being a sorcerer he eventually found a way to increase his power, by drawing on the bhaalspawn soul within. (A key could remap the spells, according to the amount of soul Ghaleon had access to... (something like 0%, 25%, 50%, and max bhaalspawn soul)
Anyways I wish I had videos to show of it, as the screenshots just dont do it justice.
As for what I wanted to do with the mod eventually :
*spoiler aheadddd for BGII ToB*
I always thought Melissan was kind of a lousy final boss... If I had the patience to make it I wanted to create a mod to offer a different ending...
I loveeee Ghaleon, and wanted to make him into a joinable NPC for BG1. A fellow bhaalspawn (unbeknowst to you) that your decisions can affect the continutation of the mod in BGII.
The climatic end however, will end with either Melissan [if Ghaleon is dead or if he stays with your party]; or Ghaleon [two different possibilities assuming you dont somehow kill Ghaleon at misc encounters] (one possibility was the demon Ghaleon final battle (huge creature bhaalspawn/bhaal ressurection version) (other possiblity was the properly ascending Ghaleon as a super being [similar to what Melissan was up to])
The final possiblity was to be dependent on a certain mod called Imoen Romance ToB... Ghaleon would continue what Irenicus started...
In the words of Ghaleons voice actor :
Behold the Ruler you must serve... Oh yes... you got what you wanted... but not in the way you imagined....
Kneel before the Black Goddess....
Kneel and submit to her dark desires... for though I shall perish, I go knowing that I succeded in tearing your one true love eternally... and blackened this pathetic world... forever....
And thus the final battle would be a troubling final fight.
I had everything in much more detail written somewhere... hmmm where was it... Baldurs Gate II (Ghaleon sorcerer mod) [unfinished]](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/eE1iNQvqDOE/mqdefault.jpg)

![Utawarerumono PC opening (AI upscaled 60fps)
Uploaded the original opening years ago: https://youtu.be/ne_zju0cTp0
Now, using current software: video enhance AI and SVP pro, comparing the quality, taken from 640x480 to 1440x1080. If you want to learn more about Utawarerumono (one of my all time favorite visual novels, though the PCs 18+ scenes felt tacked on and seem not mentioned outside the scenes), heres the old description I wrote for the old video, just for a trip through time:
Utawarerumono created by Leaf. Translated from Japanese into English by Soylations/mirror moon.
This game contains 18+ content/aka H-Game. Although there is a PS2 version that does not contain these scenes. It is a Strategy RPG game with ADV/Visual Novel elements.
This game can be imported for about 75$ US. To add voices also purchase the PS2 version for about 60$.
As far as recommendations go, this one is one of my favorites. Dont forget this game also has an anime that was liscenced by ADV Films. Great stuff here.
Reuploaded to fix quality problem created by youtube...
Assuming you are 18 or older! Here are a few trustworthy sites that I know you can order the game from :
Warning! The links might have some not work safe images of other game on it...
Erogeshop.com/Himeyashop.com is one of the easiest and safest places to order from :
Utawarerumono - PC game.
http://www.erogeshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/1000556
Unfortantely the price is usually retail price translated into $. They have sales sometimes [just missed one!] But its only like 5% off the price usually.
Shipping to USA is something like 18$ for the first item and 4$ for each additional.
Alternatively the other main place I know about is Paletweb.com
http://www.paletweb.com/selectpage.asp?code=0000798
A bit less in price and trustworthy. But, slightly more troublesome to place orders; since you have to use PayPal...
Make sure follow their directions closely! They have nice sales sometimes up to at least 10% off. [missed this one too!]
Shipping varies.
Finally if you know someone in Japan, you can have them order off amazon.jp. They usually have the best prices, but they dont ship international far as I know...
http://www.amazon.co.jp/%E3%83%AA%E3%83%BC%E3%83%95-%E3%81%86%E3%81%9F%E3%82%...
If you want to buy the PS2 game to add voices into the PC game...
It seems only amazon.jp and Himeyashop/Erogeshop.com have copies left...

![PC (RPG) Extended Preview = 05 Guild Wars : Prophecies [TrueHD][HDmax]
This video is for watching in full-screen. You can watch at HD video quality without even using the HD button! The advantage of this is; it may run smoother and take less CPU than if you were using regular HD...
Disadvantage is, it takes about 5 minutes to load the video! (Due to much larger size than normal)
If you use turn on HD however... youll be using HDmax, which is basically the same quality as the original file... PC (RPG) Extended Preview = 05 Guild Wars : Prophecies [TrueHD][HDmax]](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/hnoGF4FfvBY/mqdefault.jpg)
