Not because the world is literally going to explode. But because "everything you know stops being true" is an abstract concept — and fire falling from the sky is something a human nervous system can actually receive.

The collapse of the metaphysical scaffolding. The end of the systems that made reality comprehensible. That's not a physical event. But it maps onto one. And maybe that mapping is the only tool available across whatever gap exists between us and whatever is making contact.
