While some see this as a knock on the Great 8, it's more a sign of his unstoppability even when everyone knows what he's going to do. His legendary one-timer is his most famous type of goal, but earlier in his career it was also common to see him shoot through a defender off the rush. In a Super Bowl Sunday matchup against the Senators, Ovechkin scored with both of his usual styles to help chase Brian Elliott from the net before using the defenseman as a screen again to beat Alex Auld for his third of the night. In reaction to the hat trick goal, Capitals color commentator Craig Laughlin simply said "this guy is scary". An accurate description for a player who, at his peak, was as close to unguardable as any goal scorer in NHL history.
