In the early morning hours of Monday, June 18, 2018, K9 Deputy Jeremie Nix, Air One (aka Swampfox)and Lt. Donnie Winston were in the area of 5 Spring Course in reference to a suspicious incident call. Deputy Nix and Air One observed a suspicious vehicle leaving the area driving down multiple back roads in the Shores. The suspects' vehicle drove into the driveway at 50 Cedar Road and Lt. Winston pulled in behind the vehicle to conduct an investigative stop. The driver then turned car's lights off and accelerated through the yard intentionally driving through two fences. The vehicle got hung up on the second fence and Air One observed three subjects running from the vehicle. Two jumped a fence and unlawfully entered a shed in the backyard of 16 Midway Road to evade deputies. Deputy Nix and his K9 partner “Drago” responded to that location, where defendant Daprix Gadson (DOB: 07/13/90) and juvenile co-defendant Tyriesha Smith (DOB: 08/21/00) were taken into custody. Air One located the last subject, defendant Darius Douglas (DOB: 10/14/91), hiding in front of 5 Pine Court where he was taken into custody. Defendant Douglas had an active Marion County Warrant for Burglary of a Dwelling, Aggravated Assault and Grand Theft. Defendant Gadson was determined to be the driver of the vehicle and was found to only have an ID card with multiple suspensions. He also had a white rock like substance in his pocket which tested positive for being an Opioid. All three suspects were arrested and transported to the Marion County Jail.
