Climate adaptation in existing cities includes a number of different solutions. Green infrastructure with detention or infiltration of storm water, renovation of drainage systems, establishment of cloudburst reservoirs in parks and urban spaces, etc. The solutions are associated with major construction work and subsequent maintenance, which can be calculated both in financial costs and in derived CO2 emissions. The presentation will include a number of examples for climate solutions from Denmark. We will explore how WSP in Denmark use Life Cycle Assessment-tools to compare and optimize climate adaptation projects.
