As we move towards a low-carbon economy with heavy reliance on renewable energy, there have been major human rights violations associated with the extraction, processing, and manufacturing of rare minerals across the supply chain.
The webinar draws on the human rights risk assessment methodology, approach, and innovative tool that WSP has developed on a recent project conducted for a major renewable energy company. We walk through how we developed a holistic human rights risk assessment guidance tool in line with the UN Guiding Principles (UNGP) that takes into account a series of factors including, country, sector, product, and supplier risks.
We present human rights risk management measures and solutions that need to be followed by organizations to obtain further transparency across all supply chain tiers in line with Solar Supply Chain Traceability Protocol published by Solar Energy Industry Association (SEIA).
The webinar focuses on the importance of human rights risk assessment and due diligence approach as part of wider ESG strategy and due diligence in line with the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), Canada’s Bill S-211 on Forced labour and Child labour and other related global standards.
