By now, my team know that I can usually find a way to re-purpose most household objects into a home-made instrument of some description, and toiletry gifts are no exception! Here is todays Shaker Advent Calendar creation. I hope you enjoy the effect!

Well today my Advent Shaker is made out of a container that I think had some body cream, or something like that, and at this time of the year – Christmas coming up, you know – we’re all giving each other lots of different types of toiletries, and smelly things which is lovely. So this is clearly something I have decided to keep, and inside of here I’ve put some very tiny, tiny fish stones. So, really quite fine fish stones. And it’s just a really lovely, lovely, gentle feel in the hand. And it also has a kind of weight to it, which is really nice. So…

Evelyn is stood in front of an array percussion instruments of varying shapes, sizes, textures and colours. She shows us the shaker she has created today, as part of her Advent Shaker Calendar (where she is making a new shaker every day in the lead-up to Christmas), describing what it is made from, and then demonstrates it.
