Plan C | Acorn A3000 Extreme Refurb : Acid Damaged Acorn and a Magic POSTBox @Plan-C | Uploaded September 2021 | Updated October 2024, 6 hours ago.
This video documents the repair of an Acorn Archimedes A3000 which had suffered extreme battery damage. It was pretty much a complete strip and rebuild of the motherboard. The unit is then tested and brought back to full working order. A diagnostic tool called a POSTBox, which helped greatly with the repair, is also showcased.
The unit was very kindly donated to the channel by GadgetUK164 and featured in his recent video:

A massive thank you to GadgetUK for both the donation and all the help as well as to Zarchos, who donated some machines to GadgetUK in the first place. I am blown away by the generosity.
The repair process is also documented in some detail in a thread on the Star Dot forums:

The memory test script used in the repair can also be found there.
This repair actually took months and was only possible thanks to the in-depth knowledge and patience of the people at Star Dot so a massive thank you to them as well.
The POSTBox diagnostic toll was sourced from Star Dot. Details of the unit can be found here:

Continuity tests spreadsheet and bare motherboard photos here:

Please note: There were times when I gave up on the repair for weeks at a time and there were some parts I did not set out to video. I had to cobble together some of the footage. There are a few short sections of handheld video towards the end. A few sections have less than perfect audio. Not terrible but I have tried to limit them as much as possible.
