Sometimes the best discoveries aren't planned. We happened to drive past this hidden French manor, and from that moment I knew we had to document it. Inside, we found something incredible: historical paintings on every wall, bedrooms that look out of this world, and some of the most exquisite antique furniture we've ever come across in all our years of exploring. But the real story is where all this wealth came from. After hours of research through the documents left behind, we pieced it together. This family didn't inherit their fortune, they built it, on money that didn't come from France at all. For decades, this entire estate was paid for by dividends flowing in from plantations on the other side of the world, in French Indochina. And when France lost its colonies in 1954, the lifeline of this house was quietly cut. No fire, no scandal... a war on the other side of the world slowly emptied a French manor.
