Deep in the French countryside, we found one of the most beautiful estates we've ever explored — a château with more than a thousand years of history behind its walls, and its own private chapel still standing beside it. Our research took us back through centuries: a medieval fortress, a Renaissance palace built by one of France's most powerful families, and even Cardinal Richelieu, who had the main château torn down so it wouldn't outshine his own. This place survived kings, cardinals, and revolution. But it would not survive the modern world.

What killed it wasn't war or mystery — it was greed and money. We found out that decades ago, foreign investors stripped the château of its woodwork and tapestries and nearly shipped its priceless stained glass to Japan. Then, in 2000, a wealthy American couple bought what was left, did the bare minimum for twenty years, and after 2020 simply never came back — leaving one of France's treasures to rot. Today the walls are collapsing, the grounds are swallowed by brambles, and the village is fighting to save it before it's lost for good. Come inside with us and walk through the slow death of a 500-year-old castle.
