Kaley, a design and visual communication major from Neenah, Wisconsin, chose UWM instead of a traditional art school because she wanted the best of both worlds: a top-quality design program paired with a more classic college experience. “I didn’t want to miss out on things like living in the dorms, sports and clubs outside of the arts,” she said. Kaley was also considering her future career plans as a graphic designer. “And thinking about the career I’m going into, I have to be able to communicate art ideas with people who are non-artists.”
A few of Kaley’s accomplishments at UWM include starting an art club called Art for All, organizing a student-led mural effort to beautify campus and working at a local design firm. UWM is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design and offers courses and concentrations across a wide range of disciplines, including ceramics, design and visual communication, fibers, jewelry, metalsmithing, painting, drawing, photography, sculpture and many more.
