Caleb Simper (1856-1942) wrote a collection of 102 voluntaries divided into 12 books. While Books 1–6 can be found on IMSLP, I wanted to discover the complete series, so I ordered Books 7–12 from a publisher in England. They recently arrived here in the Netherlands, and today I’m happy to share this miniature Concluding Voluntary in D major from Book 12. And although it sounds easy, I didn’t find it easy to play. There is a lot of movement in 50’seconds, especially for the pedals.
