On 28 January, Assistant Minister for Defence The Hon. Peter Khalil MP officially opened the new MQ‑4C Triton facilities at RAAF Base Tindal - a $355.7M investment in Australia’s next‑generation uncrewed capability.
The new facilities feature maintenance hangars, upgraded airfield pavements, working accommodation, and essential supporting infrastructure. These facilities allow Triton to launch and recover from Tindal, while 9 Squadron aircrew operate them remotely from RAAF Base Edinburgh.
This milestone strengthens Australia’s northern posture, boosts long‑range intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capability and ensures Defence remains ready for emerging challenges across our region.
