In the wake of the US Trade War with Canada, Prime Minister Mark Carney introduced a nation building bill to fast track mega projects that lead to econmic and energy security.
Monic Curtis of the Pembina Institute says in the era of the climate crisis we need to think differently about nation building.
In a new report the insitute is proposing a massive program to retrofit homes and buildings in Canada to create jobs, reduce energy use and make life more affordable for Canadians.
We talk to Monica Curtis of the Pembina Institute. She's had plenty of experience with utilities and she even designed a PACE program in the US that helps building owners retrofit their buildings to save energy and money.
She says the Renovation Wave could generate 200,000 jobs and $48 billion in economic activity.
