Hanazaki Paisagismo Studio — Architecture & Landscape in São Paulo | Project by Studio Guilherme Torres + Hanazaki Paisagismo (Interviews)
Located in Pinheiros, the Hanazaki Paisagismo studio transforms a compact urban plot into a lush architectural environment where nature becomes the project’s defining element.
Designed in collaboration between Studio Guilherme Torres and landscape architect Alex Hanazaki, the office was conceived as an intelligent and highly optimized workspace — balancing architecture, landscape, light, and atmosphere within the dense urban fabric of São Paulo.
The project reverses the traditional relationship between architecture and gardens: instead of discovering nature after entering the building, visitors are immediately immersed within it. Vertical hydroponic gardens, tropical vegetation, movable roof systems, and materials such as shou sugi ban wood create a strong dialogue between Brazilian landscape culture and Japanese influences rooted in Hanazaki’s heritage.
In this film, we experience the project through a poetic and cinematic architectural journey, featuring exclusive interviews with Guilherme Torres and Alex Hanazaki, who share the inspirations, challenges, and creative process behind the studio’s conception.
More than an office, the project becomes an exploration of how architecture and landscape can coexist as a single spatial experience.
