Architect Felipe Hess breaks down the real challenges of high-rise living in Rio, stunning ocean views versus dark internal corridors and shadowy shafts. Keeping the original layout (living room, kitchen, bedrooms, and baths right where they belong), the magic happens in the central hallway: reimagined as a vibrant space with wide white slatted walls and doors, sleek gray Hakwood flooring that stretches the proportions, and glass panels with brise screens turning the core into a textured light source.
His team of 20 architects blends classic references with custom built-ins-like a floating low sideboard for art and books, and an eclectic living area mix: Siesta chair by Ingmar Relling, Kofod Larsen Scandinavians, and dark-wood armchairs by Zanine, all playing with light and shadow beachside. No wild inventions, just spot-on details to elevate everyday life.
