This video showcases the Olivar Apartment, a 440m² luxury apartment in São Paulo, located in Moema, inside a residential building designed by Arthur Casas. The interior architecture and interior design were developed by Melina Romano — Architecture, Design & Interiors, resulting in a sophisticated contemporary home where architecture, art, and Brazilian design are deeply interconnected.
Set in the Edifício Ibaté, the project takes advantage of the apartment’s original generous proportions, organizing the social area into four integrated zones: a main living room, a TV lounge designed for both everyday use and entertaining, a bar and wine cellar, and a dining room directly connected to the kitchen. These spaces flow seamlessly, creating an open-plan apartment with strong visual connections and expansive views of the São Paulo skyline.
Materiality defines the architectural language of the interiors. An exposed ribbed concrete ceiling, finished in a lighter tone, brings texture and structural clarity to the space, while custom cappuccino-toned millwork adds warmth and continuity. Floors and slabs remain intentionally neutral, reinforcing a minimalist architectural base that allows furniture, light, and art to take center stage.
Art curation and design furniture play a fundamental role in shaping the atmosphere of the apartment. The interiors feature pieces by Zanine Caldas, Jorge Zalszupin, Claudia Moreira Salles, Nanda Vigo, Pedro Ávila, as well as Italian design furniture by Tacchini, combined with artworks by Bel Ysoh and Célia Euvaldo. Bespoke elements — including a custom-designed dining table and a sculptural pendant light by Ingo Maurer — emphasize the project’s attention to detail and curatorial approach.
More than a renovation, the Olivar Apartment reflects a contemporary Brazilian interior design philosophy, where each project is treated as a unique prototype, shaped by client immersion, respect for existing architecture, and the integration of multiple creative disciplines.
