Radars at Fort Greely, Alaska, detect a nuclear missile. The president and his entourage must use the limited time they have to try to shoot down the missile before it reaches Chicago.
Distillery VFX served as the sole visual effects studio on A House of Dynamite, delivering a total of 405 VFX shots for the film. The team handled a wide range of work including invisible CGI, environment extensions, digital set enhancements, FX simulations, lighting integration, and high-end compositing.
A large portion of the work focused on seamlessly enhancing live-action footage, ensuring all digital elements matched the on-set lighting, camera movement, and overall tone of the film. Practical locations and sets were subtly extended using CG to add scale, atmosphere, and visual continuity without drawing attention to the effects.
Distillery VFX worked closely with the filmmakers to maintain a grounded and realistic look throughout the film, using visual effects purely in service of the story. From small invisible fixes to more complex effects-driven shots, the studio’s work plays a crucial role in shaping the final cinematic experience.
