As Tenet begins its rollout to theaters, we can only guess the extent to which Christopher Nolan distorts time in his latest film. We can, however, look back at his career to shed some light on how the director uses time in his movies. From his famously "backward" Memento, through the non-linear retelling of the Dark Knight's origins in Batman Begins, to the tragic, gravity distorted space opera Interstellar, a Chris Nolan film is as certain to use time as a theme or narrative device as it is to feature Michael Caine in a supporting role. So what will Tenet's concept of inversion really be? What hints can we find in the auteur's career? Here follows, a brief history of time... and Christopher Nolan Movies.
