Wagner Leitmotifs | 92 Love's Greeting : Der Ring Des Nibelungen @wagnerleitmotifs7654 | Uploaded September 2013 | Updated October 2024, 10 hours ago.
This leitmotif is first heard in act 3 scene 3 of Siegfried.
This motif is sung as a duet between Siegfried and Brunnhilde and expresses their joy at having been born and nurtured so that they could meet each other: "O Heil der mutter; die mich gebar; Heil der Erde, die mich genahrt!" ("O Hail the Mother who gave me birth; Hail the Earth that gave me nurture!").
The last 6 notes are similar to Love Tragedy, perhaps foreboding what is to come.
