An 8.8 magnitude earthquake occurred on the Kamchatka Peninsula in eastern Russia.

In a statement made by the US Geological Survey (USGS), the epicenter of the earthquake was 119 kilometers southeast of the city of Petropavlosvk-Kamchatskiy on the peninsula.

In the statement, it was stated that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 20 kilometers and its magnitude was 8.8.

A tsunami warning was issued after the earthquake, which also recorded aftershocks with magnitudes of 6.9 and 6.3 in the region.
