If you rely on subtitles to understand anime, there's probably some common mistakes you're unaware of. Some of the points I bring up just boil down to bad translation technique, but other issues stem from things like broadcast standards or client wishes that are outside our artistic control. Either way, a translation is never perfect, but these are some points to keep in mind when you're either translating anime or reading subtitles.
