There are some crazy things that the US treats as completely normal which the rest of the world is shocked by. As an American who grew up overseas and who's spent most of my life traveling, there are some things that still blow my mind about American culture. Some of it is just a little bizarre, but other things can be downright harmful, and yet we treat them as inevitable/just the way things are.
Perhaps by shining an outside/semi-outside perspective on this stuff we can re-examine why we do things the way we do, and hopefully improve.
