Pure myth sounds like the cleanest way to dismiss the whole Jesus story, until you remember how many wannabe messiahs, miracle workers, rebels, and prophet guys were running around under Rome. Having a dude exist is a very low bar. Turning that dude into a legend is where things get messy.
