Creating good video content is all about efficiency and planning. After all, you don’t have any time to spare, right? Here are my top 6 tips for planning out a high-impact video, quickly.
1. Know your essential mission. Write it down. Tape it to your wall. Your mission must guide all your plans.
2. Minimize interruptions. I know people need you, a lot. But each interruption costs you 20 minutes to refocus. If you have a door, close it. If not, put on obvious headphones to deter visitors.
3. Decide the core story first. In one sentence, write down who this video is for and what this video is about. Focus on a problem, like, young people are bombarded by distractions so it’s hard to hear their vocational call. Then provide the solution.
4. Ask why, who, what, and where. Why is this story so important? Who can speak on this topic, what visuals will audience see and where can you film?
5. Batch videos together. You are already planning out one video, it’s most efficient to plan several similar videos at the same time. You can also plan to film them at the same time, which is very cost-effective.
6. Ask for help. Big or little, God cares about this project. Ask for His guidance. If you have a favorite patron, ask for intercession too. My go-to video helpers are Venerable Fulton Sheen, soon-to-be-Saint Carlos Acutis and Our Lady of Guadalupe.

We as a Catholic church started the Jubilee of hope… and within months, circumstances outside our control caused an upheaval in funding and drop in donations. The jubilee of hope… may not seem so hope-filled. Or is it? 🫶
