Most people will make a video and obsessively watch the number of views it garners, then use that single number to judge the success of their video project.
The problem with this approach is that the number of views is meaningless. Your video could have gone viral and still had absolutely no impact on your organization, or by contrast, have had 50 views and been a smashing success.
You need to find a performance indicator that 1. Is trackable, and 2. Means something to your organization.
So go back to the goal of your video, then find a number tied to it. If you want to fundraise, an obvious performance indicator would be dollars donated. If your goal is recruitment, track the number of inquiry forms submitted in contrast with previous periods. If it’s awareness, track the number of visits to your website or the number of people subscribing to your social media channels. For engagement or attendance, measure what percent of your membership participated. And if it’s education, keep an eye on how many people watch 75% of the video or more.
Be creative! But always go back to your goal. Then find a concrete, trackable number to get real insight that a simple view count would never provide.

We as a Catholic church started the Jubilee of hope… and within months, circumstances outside our control caused an upheaval in funding and drop in donations. The jubilee of hope… may not seem so hope-filled. Or is it? 🫶
