I don’t believe in UFO’s,
Or anything not a fact,
Nor conspiracy theories,
Ghostbusters or even tinfoil hats.

I also find myself among,
The rare Earther scholastic,
The only civilization in the Milky Way,
So what has this to do with plastic?

For a civilization to rise high it needs,
Metal and power too,
Both of them can only come,
From a billion years of goo.

So any civilization must have a star,
That does not go bust,
And the planet must have moving plates,
Leaving goo within the crust.

So before any aliens,
Can set their furnaces to boil,
Their planet must first live three billion years,
And leave behind coal and oil.

But this is not a given though,
As there must be lots of water and soil,
Leaving the host star’s energy behind,
In the form of gas or oil.

Now think of the modern world,
And plastic from the past,
It comes from a billion years ago,
From crude oil or natural gas.
