39 Waiting Room

Did you ever notice that waiting rooms
Are never a place you want to be,
And you are often waiting for,
A person you don’t want to see.

For me my wait was for a Principal,
Because at lunch I was having fun,
I liked that lunch break so much,
That I took another one.

But at Gila Vista Junior High,
One lunch break is all you got,
I personally cancelled homeroom,
And personally I got caught.

So it was off to the main office,
And a chance to plead my case,
It would give me time to invent a story,
Proving it was a harmless mistake.

By the time the time was over,
I had the answer to the question because:
I didn’t hear the bell ring,
And I forgot which lunch break mine was.

Finally the Principal came in,
In the office with all his glory,
He applied the board of education,
Not waiting for my story.

He would pitch and I would catch,
And he was also the cleanup batter,
Then he asked me what my story was,
And I told him that now didn’t matter.
