87 The Voice in your Head

I’m a big believer
When it comes to that voice in your head.
And the voice becomes a little wiser
As you get older it is said.

Now, I’m sure not an expert,
But for me it is the truth,
I don’t recall hearing the voice at all,
In my early youth.

I’m not getting touchy feely,
That would make me nervous,
But where does that voice come from,
And what is its real purpose.

Could it be that we’re all wrong,
And there is no voice to call.
Could it be a normal part of thinking,
Consciousness, and that is all.

But how does this voice talk to me,
And sometimes with a taunt,
Ripping up my questions,
Giving answers that I don’t want.

And where the heck was this voice
When I needed him the most.
In those bygone bad decision years,
When the voice hardly spoke.

I guess the voice does get louder
With the passing calmer years,
He may have been mute at 17,
But now I’m glad he is here.
