Its been a while and its sure good to be back :)
Here we have the Canadian Forces (CF) Snowbirds Flight Demonstration squadron visiting Hamilton Int'l Airport (CYHM) for one final time.
With the latest news coming out a few weeks ago that 2026 would be the last year for the CF Snowbirds and their last display year with the Canadair CT-114 Tutor before the squadron goes on hiatus for a few years with the CT-157 Siskin II replacement, the amazing team at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum in Hamilton organized a final event 'Snowbirds Visit Hamilton' to bring the Snowbirds into Hamilton one final time for visitors to see.
The event was held on Wednesday, June 17th, 2026 from 1400 to 1830 local. One day before the event, it was announced the Snowbirds would fly along with the Avro Lancaster from the Museum with a few flyby's over Niagara Falls followed by a return to the Museum. However, come event day the Lancaster was replaced by the B-25 Mitchell due to maintenance issues.
The event started off with Snowbird 11 inbound from Lake Simcoe Regional Airport (CYLS) that performed numerous touch and go's on RWY 12 in Hamilton before landing. The B-25 followed shortly, lining up to wait on RWY 12 in position for the Snowbirds main team which came in and buzzed the Mitchell over RWY 12 and then joined up with them in the air after the flyby. The two then flew towards Niagara Falls where a series of flyby's were executed over the course of twenty five min. or so before returning with a flyby over the Museum. The Snowbirds then broke off to land on RWY 12 followed by the Mitchell.
The Snowbirds team ended up parking outside the museum up close for the crowd to see and participated in a photo opportunity with the Avro Lancaster and the crew of the Lanc themselves, the Lanc wearing the squadron markings on one side of a wartime 431 Squadron RCAF aircraft, the same squadron as the Snowbirds.
After the photo opportunity concluded, the team participated in a meet and greet with the crowd and after grabbing a bite to eat, fired up their engines and departed off RWY 30 heading back towards Lake Simcoe Regional Airport (CYLS).
