In 2014, ISIS was the most powerful terrorist organization in the modern world, and by using the power of the internet, they were able to recruit people from all corners of the globe.
Because world governments did literally nothing to fight this, 4Chan’s Anonymous decided that they had to take action. So they first began by spam-reporting Twitter accounts that had any connections to terrorism.
Although effective, some members of Anonymous thought that they could do more, so they formed an elite group called GhostSec that specialized in counterterrorism. Soon after, they began hacking members of ISIS and exposing them to local police agencies, who would then arrest them.
