This video shows what a compressional model looks like when cut perpendicular to the typical cross sectional view. Here, a major lateral ramp zone links basal slip atop the smooth mylar to slip higher in the section above a zone of high basal friction (sandpaper). The lateral ramp coincides with the edge of the sandpaper, and is a "connector" between major slip systems.
