A keyboard stand that is part round and part flat!
I had thought to build this completely out of Cedar, but I found that it was too light for the job! As this has to hold a keyboard upright and not fall over I needed something that would stay put! I found a piece of Ebony that is 8"x4"x1"(203x101x25.4mm) and weighs in at more than a pound, my scale only goes to 690gr, and it weighs more than that! As a matter of fact I found another piece of Ebony that was a cubic inch and it weighed in at 39gr.... so that would mean that the whole piece should weigh... 1200gr! (that means it is almost 3lb!!)
It should be noted that while I have made this one and it is really cool... my own keyboard stand is 2 pieces of 2x6 (44.45x139.7mm) cut to 8'(203mm) and one of them has 1 1/2" cut off the side of the length and that is placed between the two remaining pieces... I then drilled two holes through and put dowels in, to hold it all together! Nowhere near as heavy but it does the trick!!
