The 2027 Mitsubishi Pajero is officially back, and Mitsubishi is bringing serious off-road hardware to its legendary sport utility vehicle. Known as the Montero in some markets, the completely redesigned Pajero is preparing to challenge rugged vehicles such as the Toyota Land Cruiser.
The new Mitsubishi Pajero enters its 5th generation with a truck-based platform derived from the Mitsubishi Triton, seating for 7 passengers, and Mitsubishi’s Super Select four-wheel-drive II system. Power initially comes from a 2.4-liter turbocharged diesel engine producing 204 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque.
Beyond its off-road capability, the new Pajero receives a major interior upgrade with available 14.3-inch displays, a 12-speaker Yamaha audio system, tri-zone automatic climate control, heated second-row seats, double-glazed windows, an acoustic windshield, and a digital version of the classic Pajero Multi Meter.
The 2027 Mitsubishi Pajero will initially launch in Thailand before reaching Japan and Australia by the end of March 2027. Mitsubishi plans to sell the new generation in around 100 countries, although a return to the United States under the Montero name has not yet been confirmed.
